Scavenger Studios - Visiting Artist Talk and Workshop with Joshua Jay Johnson

Join Scavenger Studios for a Visiting Artist Talk and Workshop with Joshua Jay Johnson. Partaking in an Artist Residency from Wednesday, June 4, to Saturday, June 14, there will be two opportunities to meet Joshua, learn from him directly, and view his work in person. Joshua creates figurative landscapes of individuals traversing a harsh and post-civilized environment. These etchings and drawings examine ones relationship within a society increasingly devoid of shared meaning or consequence. The aesthetic of his line etchings recall a history most easily attributed to the renaissance. Contemporary elements find their way into the imagery in the form of objects, patterns, or settings. This anachronistic approach creates a feeling of temporal ambiguity, while emphasizing the cyclical nature of human action.

The Artist Talk will take place on Thursday, June 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Print Workshop will take place on Saturday, June 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For those who are interested in attending and participating, please click here for more information.
