I believe my interest in painting began with oil paint-by-numbers as a young child. After taking oil painting lessons in my mid-twenties, I eventually transitioned to watercolor after meeting Bruce Butte, who was the Art Director at Harry and David and taught workshops in his Jacksonville, Oregon studio. Since I was teaching school, I painted only on Saturdays, but I was hooked on the challenge and spontaneity of transparent watercolors, as it more accurately reflected the feelings I wished to convey.I taught fourth and sixth grade, including art education, for 25 years in the Medford School District, and have lived in the Rogue Valley with my husband Don since 1974.
I consider my artwork to be interpretive as I paint what I feel best represents my vision. I have signature memberships in the Watercolor Society of Oregon and the Northwest Watercolor Society. My work is currently shown at Art & Soul Ashland, in Ashland, Oregon, Hart Mt. Store in Plush, Oregon, and the Rogue Gallery and Art Center in Medford, Oregon and my studio.
